Makerspace @ Columbia

Columbia University’s School of Engineering Makerspace @ Columbia is an innovative hub for interdisciplinary invention.

Makerspace @ Columbia for Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Sciences is a creative workshop and forum that will enable cross-disciplinary research and design, creative prototyping, and open discussion of ideas. The facility is centered around an open workshop; a multipurpose work area with workbenches, assembly stations, and the latest digital modeling and fabrication equipment. A separate machine shop and woodshop are separated by acoustic glass walls, creating a transparent environment that encourages exploration and collaboration. More than a collection of workshops and break-out areas, the Makerspace @ Columbia is an exchange; a place that fosters the sharing of ideas through making, research, and discussion.
